day 19

Friday morning I was supposed to be meeting up with conor and cassidy to go hike mt jumbo. however at about 1030 i discovered they werent going to call. so i moved to the couch and finished watching the bachelorette i had started the previous night. after this finished up about 1100 i no longer could be a bump on the couch. i put on my running shoes and headed the three miles into downtown. i finished my run by the wharf and found my friend andy... the dock manager. he actually was just finishing up as i had gotten there. We went to the hanger for a beverage then headed to his house. I had told him about how i may be getting to go out to tracy arm the next day and was wonderign if i could crash at he and his gf's house so i dont have to bike home at night and come back by seven thirty the next mornign tor the tour. he said that woudlnt be a problem. I also had arranged for mike the pharmacist to pick me up and take me out whale watching in the evening. Oh! there is also a rave that was going down at centennial hall that evening. So we hung out at andy's house and then i ordered more sushi from seongs. this time i was going to try the spicy tuna rolls per andy's request. Then we hopped on his scooter, grabbed the sushi and went to my house where i could eat and be picked up in an hour by mike to go out whale watching. The spicy tuna rolls were pretty good... i probably would order them again. then before i knew it mike was there ready to take me out to tee harbor to try and find some whales. Tee harbor is way out the road past auke rec. we got to mikes boat about 400 ready to venture out into the less choppy than last time seas. We were headed north up towards benjamin island because the humpback whales typically like to hang out up there. Sure enough after the hour boat ride out there we saw a few whale watching boats maneuvering. so we pulled up next to them and sure enough there was like seven humpback whales eating and diving and everything. there were also a bunch of sealions sunning themselves on the rocks. we also ran across a sealion in the water and he came right up to the boat. after hanging out with the whales until six ocloc we headed back to tee harbor. on the way we saw a complete rainbow both sides and totally connected. it was too close for me to get a complete picture of it but i definately did it in chunks and its complete!! after arriving back at tee harbor mike dropped mme off downtown at the hanger. I then was trying to find somewhere to store my large backpack i was carrying. i finally got ahold of conor who was hanging out with andy and brady. Andy said i could keep my bag at his house so i headed his way. then i ran into brady (yeah.... he wasnt too terribly happy) dropped my stuff off then they were going to a park to play kickball. I walked there but was starving and did not want to get all sweaty because i was going out to the rave that night. (yes... apparently they rave in juneau). So after walking the mile to the park talked to brady and decided to leave and go hang out with my friends. Went and grabbed dinner at the hanger from andy fritz. Then i bar hopped to the rendevous to talk to my friend josh (the one who was taking me to tracy arm the next day) to find out if i could crash at his house on the couch so i wouldn't have to ruin andy/brady's night and would be able to stay downtown. Josh said no problem and about 1000 i ran over to the rave. my friend megan was totally decked out for it i was impressed but i ended up not staying too long because it just wasnt my thing. after i left i just hopped from bar to bar looking for people i knew. I ran into steph and cliff (brady's roommates) and told them i was headed to the imperial. meanwhile there was this guy that had just gotten out of a movie eyeing me and said 'the party's headed to the imperial find me there' eventually i ran into him his name is carter he was out with his roommate and girlfriend. they had to leave not too long after i met him and exchanged phone numbers and he told me hed call me the next day. not too much longer after that my buddy will ran into me and this time (the fifth encounter) he actually remembered my name! but i continued to bar hop until about 230 when i was getting really tired. i went to the alaskan to find andy fritz (the bartender from hanger) because he ended up being josh's roommate as well. but andy went to the rendevous to have a shot and i was really tired and needing to go asleep so as andy ditched me i found will on teh street. i asked him if he had a couch i could crash on and if he could help me find andy halls house to get my stuff. will walked me to andys house adn gave me a recliner at his house. and taht was my friday

day 18

thursday morning came way too quick (like most my mornings in alaska) went into work and i went to my discharge planning meeting. shadowed people and researched patients in the morning. for lunch, Jenice took me to this hole in the wall chinese food place down the hill from the hospital. i had a halibut combo plate, it was quite tasty. then when i got back i looked into getting all the paperwork filled out that i needed to do and continued to look up patients. then we got an iv order for a banana bag soi got to make my first iv, it was pretty exciting. then before i knew it it was four fifteen and time for me to leave. trying to figure out stuff to do i went back to the apartment and chatted on facebook for awhile, watched the bachelorette and waited. brent said he could take me out to st. theresa's a church out the road with a gorgeous view but he had to lift and stuff first. so i went running and before i knew it it was 730 and conor(who was planning on doing sushi at seven thirty) told me no one else was going out to eat. i was starving and still had no food at my house so i angerily put on my rain boots and rain coat and grabbed my umbrella and started out on the three mile hike in the rain. along the way it never really rained superhard but i definately had wet pants once i got downtown an hour later. my friend brian the maintenance man told me i should go eat at jaded, the bar where megan's boyfriend adam works becuase they have 5 dollar appetizers. so i got the fried calamari and the chicken lettuce wraps. both of which were pretty great! there was a gentleman andlady friend down the bar from us and i asked josh is his name what i need to do before i leave town and he said i needed to check out tracy arm. an all day boat trip to these glaciers. and then i continued to question him on it, and he said that they go out tuesday through saturday and that he was going to ask and see if we could sneak on one. they are led by allen marine boats. josh took my number down and told me he would let me know. then i was trying to track down where everyone else went. by this time conor totally bailed and was not going out downtown. i ended up bar hopping i think all night until about 12 when conor came and picked me up and dropped me off at my apt.

Day 17

wednesday morning i was really tired. the sauna had totally dehydrated me and seventhirty was just a little bit too early for me! But i headed off to the hospital with hopes of going on rounds within the mental health unit. (the doctors here dont go on rounds... the closest thing is in mental health) however i went there, they had already started interviewing a patient so then i was shewed away and told to come back at nine so i came back at nine.. they had already started got shewed away. asked for a number to get ahold of me at... they called, i got there and then the room was full of other pepole. by this time i was kinda just fed up. actually within the closed off nurses station i said, "geez you guys have me runnign around like a crazy person" which made everyone start laughing one of the nurses was like.. likes like your in the righ tplace! lol it was actually really funnny. then lunch was at my apt (ordered bullwinkles pizza for brent and cassidy). then after lunch the day went by pretty quick. after i got off work i did a quick jumping workout and texted my friend brian (the maintenance man at the hospital) if he could give me a ride into down town at 430 when he gets off work since it was still raining pretty hard. he agreed. Once downtown i was going to meet up with my friend lizzie that i met at bergmans the first friday andy fritz took me out. but she was at work till five then went for a jog and had to shower so i got dropped off at the hanger. met an older gentleman named levon who was quite talkative and invited to take me out to perseverance trail. (i dont know if i can manage to let him take me there) and jason one of the bartenders was also having a beverage with me. My friend conor was supposed to be meeting up with me to help me pass the time until lizzie was ready to go however he got hungup on douglas island and couldnt get over to the hanger without a ride so about 715 lizzie showed up and took me to twisted fish. (another sea food place which is owned by teh same people who own the hanger tf is just a little more expensive and fancier) I had the salmon fettecine adn lizzie had the clam chowder. both of which were awesome. as we were getting up to go conor met up with us finally. lizzie was going to bring her leftovers home to her boyfriend and then she was going to meet up with a bunch of people for one of her friends twentyfirst birthdays at teh imperial. conor was hungry so i went with conor to the pizzaria roma restaurant which is down the hallway from the hanger. Sat with him while he ate his food there then his old roommate ashley who he was crashing on her couch tongiht got off owrk at the zephyr ( a high end restaurant hidden away from the waterfront) we got there and she was just finishing up. conor asked if i could hop a ride home and ashley agreed no problem. Meanwhile, Andrew (the guy from tuscan that i hiked mt juneau with) was hounding me to get to my place and copy the pictures that i took of the climb. andrew also offered me a ride but i didnt want to turn down the ride that was already offered to me so i just had ash and conor drive me home. andrew actually beat me to the house and then he uploaded the pics and hung out for a little while. Then about 100 i was exhausted, kicked him out and i went to sleep!

day 16 continued

wednesday morning was like every other morning pretty much. worked the hospital had the other interns over for bullwinkles pizza then finished up around 400. came home and sat on facebook until my friend travis that i had met the night before came over to go hike to salmon creek dam. I totally decked out my coach rainboots and even jumped in a giant mudpuddle in them. they held up well! it was about 2 hours back to the dam we were going to cook food there (pork wraps) but decided it probably wasnt the best idea to cook good smelling food back in bear country. Instead we hikedthe two hours back and cooked up the pork on my stove. Then my friend Brent was waiting for us (the tech intern at the hospital) to take me out kayaking in auke bay area. Travis and i finished eating and i said goodbye to travis (he is in the process of purchasing his own cafe right by the boat docks). Then brent drove me out to his house. we kayaked out to the same island we did last time however the tide was high and there were some strong currents so it was much harder... oh yeah! it was RAIning too!! so i was soaking wet! we were out on the water for about an hour, didn't see any sea lions or anything (boo) and retreated back to the harbor. then brents dad said the sauna was warm so we went into the sauna for like... forty five minutes. it was sooo warm! definately felt much better after being out on the freeezing cold water! about 1200 brent brought me back and i fell asleep rather quickly

Day 16

Man one week left in alaska and soo much i still want to do. these are the things i have yet to do...
  1. go whale watching
  2. go ice climbing from a helicopter on the icefields
  3. check out the icecaves of mendenhall glacier
  4. climb mount jumbo
  5. fish one more time??
  6. check out taku lodge/overnight backpack somewhere
  7. walk perseverance trail
  8. zipline eagle crest
  9. have pizza at pizzaria roma
  10. eat at the twisted fish
wow... i better get going! so this tuesday morning i was woken up early because i went to my bosses husbands work (hes a MD) and shadowed him for the morning. he is the only physician in juneau for the us coast guard. its kinda cool he is part of the national public health services so hes not actually part of the coast guard but gets to work with coast guard people. For lunch we picked up jenice and went to a chinese restaurant right by where he works and had the mongolian beef and the salmon sushi. it was actually pretty good. then after lunch, i headed to the pharmacy and researched more into PSP and looked through my intern packet. now i am going to get in a quick jumping workout (its pouring outside) and maybe hike up to the salmon creek dam to eat dinner with travis (the gentleman i met yesterday at the hanger). Well seee if that goes down. then the plan is to go out to auke bay and kayak.... but this rain looks pretty fierce right now i dont know if were going to be able to get it done....

Day 15

This morning started the same as any monday morning.... tired! Went to the hospital and went on to discharge planning meeting. Then I got back and met the new intern (PD2) Cassidy who is here from kentucky. Then I looked up patients at the hospital. we are filled (all of our beds are full) so its very busy. Went to lunch with brent to pay off my part of the bet we made (i wanted the celtics to win he wanted lakers and the bet was lunch....) and then after brent got done eating cassidy came down so i stayed and ate lunch with her and we gabbed about lots of things. its kinda nice, shes super awesome! after lunch iw ent to a medication error meeting and made a recommendation (for a flow chart how to identify the process of the mistakes that are made) and then after themeeting i worked on makign the flow chart better. After work i got home and organized/uploaded all of my pictures from the previous two days to my computer, chatted with some friends on facebook then about 545 ran into town to eat some dinner. Went to the hanger (of course) and got the cajun grilled halibut burger. met Travis, a local who is buying his own business here in a couple days (a cafe right by the dock) then we started talking to some cruisers from san jose. then a rainbow appeared out over the harbor so iwent otu to look at it. saw brady downstairs on the dock. talked to him for a little bit. then went back up to the hanger paid for my burger and went to the imperial to hang out wiht cassidy and her friend conor (who i actually met saturday with andy at the hanger but i couldn't remember his name....) we joked about alot of stuff. OH! KNOW WHAT I FOUND OUT... so i guess mt juneau is one of the toughest mountains to climb here.... and i did it with a nonlocal and i was like the tour guide... and i guess last year three people died on it.... CRAZY! i didnt die.... so now that i was able to do taht the only mountain that may be tougher is mt jumbo on douglas..... so cassidy and conor agrreed we could do that thursday or friday this week alogn with cassidy's boyfriend... im stoked. Jason from the hanger then gave me a ride to walmart so i could get gatorade and food for the morning. and that was my monday :-)

day 14

this morning i woke up rather early by a phone call from andrew--the guy from tuscan arizona i met the night before. we decided we were going to go hiking on perseverance trail. we left about 10 got to the parking lot and started hiking. since i had yet to go up to the top of a mountain i thought it would be cool to go up mt juneau. boy..... that was a long trek. i have no idea wht the elevation change was but it was a two hour hike UP A MOUNTAIN! lol there were definately some straight up parts too. we climbed across some ice too and walked across a waterfall. it was pretty awesome. about 3/4 of the way up about a quarter mile and 600 feet from the top we were like wow this is pretty sweet so we took a rest. an older guy and his teenage son got to us and ewre you ... you jsut got over the toughest part you have to make it the rest of the way up.. so we were like.. okay lets go. we got up to the top and it was ABSOLUTELY gorgeous!!! omg! you could see all around it was pretty sweet. then after about a half hour on top of the mountain andrew and i decided we should start the trek back down the mountain. it was alot of work to get up the mountain let alone getting down! whoa!! the really steep parts that were mud slicked i ended up sliding down with my butt like two inches from the ground.. that way if i actually would have fallen it wouldnt of hurt so bad. it took 2 hours to get downt he mountain and my knees were KILLING me!! after that we walked the quarter mile back to the car and headed off to the alaskan brewery for a tour. the brewery was founded in 1986 and has expanded immensely and is looking at selling to minnesota within the next year. then andrew dropped me off at my house so i could shower before my friend tony that i met over the weekend came over and taught me how to make sushi. we made california rolls and they were phenomenal!! i was starving too because i only had a bowl of cereal plus 2 granola bars up/down the mountain. and that was my sunday!! :-)

day 13

this morning was a slow start. i called megan holec at about 1030 because i couldn't sleep any longer (stupid sun) and then mosied out to the living room where i realized there was BLUE SKY!!! i hadnt seen blue sky since a week ago thursday!! so after laying in the sun spot in my living room i decided i should go for a run. unsure of how far i was really going to go i didn't bring anything with me except my cell phone so after my usual turnaround point i decided i was feeling pretty good so i decided to run into downtown. I got downtown and walked to the wharf to stretch. saw andy (one of bradys friends and coworkers) and started talking to him. he mentioned getting me up on a two oclock float plane tour to the glacier/juneau ice fields. I then said that would be awesome except it was eleven and i had yet to eat and i had no money cause i wasnt anticipating running so far. Andy was like no biggie i can buy you lunch. so we went to the hanger and got a halibut burger but ate it on the park area. then i went shopping before my two oclock flight left. Sam, my pilot let me sit in the copilot seat. It was pretty amazing! we went back to the juneau ice fields over the notch and taku glacier. it was gorgeous and it was a clear sky too! we were out for fortyfive minutes and then back to the dock. Andy (bradys friend) was just about done so i did a little more shopping around town before he got off work and we wentback to the hanger for a bloody. Andy then drove me home so i could shoewr before the bbq he and his girlfriend invited me to. IT was a surprise fortieth birthday party for one of the pilots at wings. they had mooseburgers and everyone just kinda sat around and bs'ed it was fun. about 10 i got droppd off at my house with nothing to do... so i hopped on my bike and headed into town to see what saturday nightlife would bring... i was at the hanger and met this cleanshaven kid andrew from pheonix az who got here a week prior and is just in town for the summer. i then took him out to the other nightlife places downtown. about 230 brian picked me and my bike up and gave me a ride back home and that was it.

Day eleven

Friday I spent my time recupperating from kickball. We all made breakfast (bradys roommate and girlfriend cliff and stephanie as well as a random miner tyler that slept outside on the deck) and then sat around on the deck enjoying the scenary. at about 130 we decided we were going to go swimming at the public pool. however, i had to stop at my apartment to grab my suit and decided a nap sounded alot better. meanwhile, megan,--the waitress i met the first night-- told brian --the maintenance man-- to have me call her. so i did and she invited me out for ladies night dinner and dancing. i was super excited especially cause brady and all those guys were headed up to taku lodge for a wings work party. soooo brady left my place about 345 to head out to taku lodge (they have to fly teh planes there) and i took a longer nap and caught up on my the bachelorette. I then showered and got ready and megan came to pick me up promptly at 745. we went to island pub for dinner and i had the island blue salad (quite tasty) then after dinner we went to megan's boyfriends bar jaded at the nuggetinn hotel. After about an hour (and running into brian the maintenance guy and jj the guy i met from the hanger on day 3) we went to downtown juneau to hop the bars. We bounced between the imperial room --top 100 music very popular, to the viking--a more ethnic variety of people, and the rendevous-- low key chill bar. I got to met alot of interesting people and about 200 megan and adam decided it was time to head out so they dropped me off at my apartment and that was my friday night ladies night. it was alot of fun :-)

Day ten

Wow time flies when your having fun. Thursday i spent my morning at the hospital following around our PSP patient. After that Brent had offered to give me a ride out to auke rec so i could go play kickball with brady and his friends. so brents mom actully picked us up from the hospital and we pitstopped at fredmeyer to get brent new professional clothes cause apparently he doesnt have much to choose from. then i got dropped off at aukerec/bradys house. i made "boston blakes penne pasta" which was a big hit then we went to the disc golf course to play kickball on the rundown baseball field. I did pretty good (pitching and catching two line drives) and it was alot of fun! all of bradys friends are super nice. after we finished up with that we went to the softball fields closer to the house were we BBQ hotdogs and just sat around and talked. After that we went back to bradys and i ended up crashing on the couch becuase its like a 30 minute drive from auke rec to my apartment at the hospital. fun day

Day Ten

Today in the pharmacy I got to follow around (well watch her progress through the computer screen nurse notes) a patient with shellfish poisoning!! the patient is okay but it was very interesting to watch teh progression. I ended up coming back to the apartment for lunch (cereal) and after lunch got to go to a 'forms' meeting with my precepter. its a committee where they look over forms and approve any changes before they get sent off to be printed. Then I checked up on all the other patients worked a little bit on my PDIV paper and got sent home a few minutes early! Now, i'm waiting around for my friend Dan--one of the guys i met at the wedding from saturday-- to come pick me up and bring me out to the glacier to do the east glacier creek trail. So Yesterday at the glacier brady and i just did the cheesy tourist thigns.. like.. go out to the point and take pictures of the glacier. i guess this 2.8 mile trail is still pretty but not as challenging as the trails brady would like to get me to go on. (Yes ry, i may actually do more hiking stuff this year on vaca--i may complain though). So we'll see how this goes. Afterwards i'm planning on running into downtown to eat at the hanger and brady is done with work at 800ish so i'll see what he wants to do afterwards! ill update more later, hope all is well in minnesota

So! my friend dave (one of the guys i met at the wedding last weekend--he works in port angeles as a fishery person.. he basically raises salmon) was an hour late picking me up so instead of doing the glacier we went to douglas island and climbed up treadwell ditch trail to the Dan moller cabin (2 mile hike). It was all through this marshy prarie stuff so there was a single boardwalk leading the trail. I didn't fall off but did get muddy. the trail led us through the valley between eagle crest and another mountain of douglas island. It was pretty! then about 700 we got back to the car and i got dropped off at the hanger to meet brady for dinner and to head down to the valley. Had the halibut burger again out on the patio and met another cruiser couple who was also from minnesota! crazy small world. Down at Bradys we sat out on the deck and watched the cruiseliner we had seen at the hanger go past auke rec area. Then as the sun was setting we heard this splash. It was low tide and there was a whale not even 30 yards out from the beach. It was eating and definately would just come up for air! I GOT TO SEE A HUMPBACK WHALE finally!! Jess (brady's roommate) ran down to the waters edge and brady had to piggyback me down because of the sharp barnucles and mussels and stuff that was all over (i just had on flipflops and they were not doing so well on my feet). I wish i would have gotten pictures but it was dark out (well about dusk) and it would not have turned out well. After that i got brought back to my apartment and called it a night.

Day nine

I went into work this morning at 700 am (an hour early) to sit in on a special committee meeting where they discussed some changes to some protocols. Then i actually got to do like pharmacist work today! i filled up some patient med drawers and looked into some stuff online! It was pretty sweet. At 300 when I got off, brady had already called me then he came and picked me up and brought me out to his place right on the water where I did my 3 mile jog past Auke Rec area. Then when i got back his friends Aamon, andy and jake were waiting. we were supposed to go play kickball tongiht but i guess they were going back downtown. I should erally get a pic of the difference between high tide and low tide at his house! ITs crazy the difference!! WE saw some salmon jumping out of the water (which i guess is to help break up their eggs.. ) Then after I made macaroni and cheese we headed out to the mendenhall glacier visitor center so i could be touristy! we crossed over a little creek and got to a sandy hill which over looked the glacier. Ig uess if you look close enough at the pictures you can see like a vibrant blue color which means that an ice chunk just broke off the glacier not too long ago (like a couple dayS) then I made brady take a couple pictures of me 'carrying' the glacier. Then he piggybacked me across a deeper creek to a place looking into the beaver area. there were three beavers. one of which just kept swimming back and forth having apparently seen ruby (brady's dog). It was cool. Then we went back and did a cheesey 1/3 mile loop through the wilderness (i joked that that was outsdoorsy enough for me--brady didn't buy it) BTW! he took my phone and says that i am on it way too much... so i have a feeling i wont have my phone in the evenings so i can 'enjoy the great outdoors' just so you know. After the glacier i headed back home and that was my day! pretty sweet checking out the glacier.

Tuesday, June 15, 2010

Day eight

Alright... i think these might begin to sound a little more boring as i get more accustomed to juneau living. So, after meeting my boss (shes really nice and super laid back) she brought me out to lunch. I got to help with a few more things around teh pharmacy (rather than just watch the pharmacists input). I get to do things like medication verification for the detox/rehab center. I also am filling prescriptions and watched my first chemo be produced. Jenice (my precepter) then bought me lunch and explained her expectations of me while i was here. I did some research for her (PPIs require acidity/food to become activated so how to IV PPIs work if the pt is NPO, and are H2RAs and PPIs equivalent in ulcer prevention). At 400 I got let off work and called up brady who met me with his puppy ruby for a walk up salmon creek. This is the same walk i had done with the pharmacist Ursula last week during her lunch break but this time brady and I walked as far back as the trail goes. ruby loved running through the long grass and up some of the little trails. It was a good hike. After that I put in a movie and that was it. Pretty boring day for a day in alaska when Ive gotten to do so many exciting things thus far.

day seven

the morning after the wedding was... a very rough morning! i woke up at 10 and moved from my bed to my couch and put in a movie and watched it. Andy was at the hanger and brady was working until like four. About 200 i decided i should go do something athletic and went for a run. about a mile from the house i tripped on my shoelace (again....) and totally biffed it right on the side of the road. this time no cars stopped tho and i didn't skin my knees tooo bad. theyr'e bruised and swollen but i didn't do the bursa this time (phew). After finishing the run i came back and iced both my knees with the only thing cold i had (frozen porkchops) and waited for brady to come pick me up and show me his house by auke bay area. On the way to his house we stopped by the university and scoped out the view! very pretty. His house is down like 50 stairs and right on the ocean. its pretty! (definately a bachelor pad tho). After he gave his dog some attention we went to island pub for dinner (i was craving greasy pizza) and had an alfredo neopalatin pizza. it was tasty. Then we met up with Brady's roommate cliff and his girflriend at the bowling alley but proceeded to the alaskan bar. Sat around there for awhile with more of their friends then i came back to my apartment relatively early (1000pm) because monday was my first day with my precepter so i thought i should be on plenty of sleep!

Day six

Woke up and it was stilll raining out. it comes and goes so the ground is always wet and you never really know when it is going to start downpouring. Texted andy to see when we were going to go hiking today. Did my jumping workout and at about 11ish andy came and got me to bring me to mt roberts hiking trail. To get to the trailhead you have to walk up some pretttty steep streets. again, its crazy!! So we got to the mountain head and started climbing. It reminded me of hiking in minnesota (like duluth/bayfield--technically wi) but with mountains and higher peaks to climb to. We saw alot of wilderness plants (devils club, indian rhubbarb, old mans beard--lichen) and it was definately a wet muddy trek. (my pants and shoes are filthy!) We then got to the top of the tram area saw a bald eagle (lady something, she was shot in the beak and suffered a crash landing when she was found she was pretty bad off. shes completely blind in her left eye and has very arthritic movement. After looking down at the channel we hopped on the tram to go down the mountain (the 1.5 hour hike up turned into a 2.5 minute slide down) then stopped by the hanger for food to go then andy brought me back to the apartment so i could get ready for the wedding i was going to! The wedding was at the rainforest botanical gardens. an indoor mini conservatory. The wedding between rachel and jake (i tried remembering all the names of people i met) lasted less then five minutes--which i guess is typical for juneau weddings as long as theyre not catholic. Then everyone boarded a school bus (okay so since juneau is so small there is only one bus company in it so there are no party buses but you can apparently make a party bus out of a school bus here.... wowza) and started out on the 20 minute ride up to eagle crest (to ski/snowboard resort). Some of andy's friends are pretty crazy (and their names all duplicated) so another andy laid out all these landmarks for people to have their drinks finished by. i think he was the only one that actually participated. Once we got there, there was a buffet set up with appetizer like foods (sausage stuff mushrooms, cheese/meat/crackers, riblets, etc etc etc) the wedding party showed up about 45 minutes later and boy do juneau people know how to partay! lol I met a bunch of the people there;however, most of them were original juneau people who have moved to ancorage or seattle or various other places so i will never see them again. At midnight, the partay was over and we all boarded back onto the school buses to be brought down to downtown juneau where we ended up going to the alaskan. Andy had left his car at the gardens so i found myself a ride home came home and went to sleep! boy that was a fun saturday night tho!
