So today was a good day! worked at the pharmacy on my PDIV paper research and also worked on my IPPE workbook a little bit. Came back and had lunch here (left over spaghetti) then went back to the pharmacy where mike, one of the pharmacists was in visiting. He invited me out on his boat tomorrow. Hes going scuba diving down to a shipwreck and said i may be able to see a whale or some form of wildlife so i'm goign to take him up on it. I got a text from brady saying that we cant really hang out anymore so now i am unsure as to what i'm going to do for having a local to show me around... WaiT! i am going to run down to down town to the hanger again hang out with Andy, the bartender and see who i can meet tonight :-) Then after the shipwreck boat tour andy said he would pick me up and bring me to douglas island for a bonfire and to meet some of his local friends. so i'm excited about that. It finally looks like actual juneau alaska outside now tho. Its overcast and cold (okay like 55). I'm glad i packed warm running clothes cause i'm goign to need it tonight! And i am going to try the cod fish and chips tonight.. i'll get a pic up on here later! Hope all is well in minnesota
So after running the three miles into downtown, Andy the bartender was saving me a seat at th ebar because it wasso busy with people trying to watch the celtics lakers game. It was kinda cute actually he had my water waiting for me. But i asked about the cod fish and chips and apparently its breaded (i'm trying to be healthy this vacation--which is why i'm eating ben and jerrys chocola
te chip cookiedough icecream on the couch right now but thats besides the point) so i opted for the cajun halibut burger (it was prettty good) with potatoe salad. While i was sitting at the bar i sparked up conversation with the gentlemen to my left... about thirty six years old. hes a pilot. so your probably thikning.. a pilot... like an airplane pilot. nope! he is the pilot of the alaskan marine highway ferrys which get people all over the water to the different cities along the way. And then... in his spare time hes a lumberjack!! haha i finally met me a lumber jack (not cute though and surprisinglyl he was not wearing flannel and he didnot have a full beard! i was a little disappointed. HE is supposedly doing lumberjack stuff on saturday so bartender andy offered to drive me down inbetween the wedding ceremony and reception i am appaerntly going to now (I have no friends what else am i supposed to do on a saturday and apparently the view is gorgeous). After the celtics won the lumberjack left. I started talking to the guy on my right (okay! i am really talkative) and his name is mike and he is graduating from graduate school for teaching in a couple weeks. He i would have thought would be the lumberjack cause he had a fulllllll beard. Super nice guy.... IDK if i'll run into him again. He left and I joined Andy outside on the deck for his dinner (halibut tacos) they were pretty good. got everything arranged... apparently he is picking me up friday night at ten for a bonfire on the beach and then we are going to this wedding on saturday. After he got done eating i paid my bill (YES! the first dinner in alaska i had to pay for by myself) and started teh three mile trek home. I did not run into any wildlife this time. As soon as i got home i passed out because I was getting picked up at 620 am by Mike one of the pharmacists to take me out on the water!
